By now, you've probably heard State Rep. Larry Brown's statement that the government shouldn't spend money to "help people living in perverted lifestyles" by treating people with HIV who "caused it by the way they live."
It's awful and hurtful when public officials make remarks that perpetuate homophobia and HIV-stigma -- and it’s even worse when we feel like there’s nothing we can do about it.
But now, there is something you can do.
The North Carolina AIDS Action Network has just launched our 2011 legislative advocacy campaign, and we want your help.
Take our Pledge to Protect AIDS Programs.
We’ll let you know about advocacy opportunities that you can participate in from your computer, your home town, and at the state Capitol.
It's easy -- just sign up here.
Together, we’ll make sure that people with HIV and AIDS receive the treatment they need.
