ADAP Watch

As of April 4, 2012 there are:

  • 4,699 individuals enrolled in HIV/AIDS drug assistance programs (ADAP & SPAP)
    • 4,072 are enrolled in ADAP
    • 627 are enrolled in SPAP
  • 117 individuals on the waiting list

As of March 29, 2012 there were:

  • 6,867 individuals enrolled in HIV/AIDS drug assistance programs (ADAP & SPAP)
    • 6,067 are enrolled in ADAP
    • 800 are enrolled in SPAP
  • 176 individuals on the waiting list

The decrease in the number of individuals enrolled in ADAP, SPAP and on the waiting list this week is a result of the end of the annual reauthorization period. The Ryan White/ADAP fiscal year runs from April 1 to March 31. Every year all clients enrolled in ADAP, SPAP and on the waiting list are required to reauthorize (reapply for ADAP) if they continue to need medication coverage through ADAP or SPAP or want to maintain their waiting list status. The Annual reauthorization period ended on March 31, 2012. Yesterday’s counts represent all clients who successfully reauthorized by the deadline, new clients added this week and applications submitted this week by clients who missed the reauthorization deadline.

The program remains open to enrollment for applicants with a net income at or below 125% of the federal poverty level.

According to NASTAD’s most recent ADAP Watch, released on March 30, there are 11 states with waiting lists, totaling 3,666 people. That report shows NC as having 170 clients on the waiting list, which was our official count at COB on March 28. At that time, NC made up approximately 4.5% of the national ADAP waiting list.
